ANNOUNCEMENTS: Week of May 8th

Every May we set the entire month aside to solely focus on it. Throughout the month we seek to answer the question, “Why the Church and Justice?” The entire series hangs on these tenets:

  • JUST THINKING | Through teaching messages, we capture a Theology of Justice and Compassion.
  • JUST SEEING | Through awareness and partnerships, we expose the needs and how to be involved.
  • JUST FEELING | Awareness precedes compassion. Through feeling we give ourselves permission to join others in their emotional pain.
  • JUST STEPPING | Stepping is where we move beyond our church walls and physically show up in proximity, to bring relief through acts of compassion and service.

We will be screening a documentary called Compelled by Love. Compelled by Love is a powerful, inspiring and definitive portrait of Heidi Baker, a modern day Mother Teresa, whose ministry is based in over 30 nations around the world. Shot on the run over a period of 20 years, in 10 countries and on 4 continents in war zones, brothels, bushes, and Ivy League campuses, from Hollywood to Mozambique, this film transcends all political, religious, and social barriers. Follow Rolland and Heidi Baker’s journey into the world’s darkest and most desperate places, as their pursuit of the presence of God has transformed a nation through love in action. The film chronicles the power of one life fully yielded to God and the truth that love wins.

Bring your non perishable items to help support Andy & Serenity. Here are some of the needs expressed on their website at Some of the more popular items we could use more of are: all diaper sizes, Boxed Cereal, Baking items, canned meat (tuna / chicken) and canned fruit. A couple of constant items on the list are dry pinto beans and bagged rice. Purchasing large bags and then breaking them down into 1 quart ziplock bags is most economical and helpful! And remember, if you planted an extra row in your garden for the Jubilee Food Pantry, bring it on by any Tuesday around 3pm, or give us a call and we can work something else out.

June 5 | Contact: Grace Chapel
We immerse at Grace Chapel because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. Your baptism is an opportunity to show others that you trust in Christ and are now walking with Him.

June 5 | 11:00AM | Contact: Grace Chapel
Join us for our first One Service of the summer! Kick off the season at 11am with worship, baptisms, food carts, and fellowship! We hope to be outdoors on the Grace Chapel campus (weather permitting), so bring your blankets, chairs, pop-up tents and lawn games. This is a time for the whole family to enjoy service together! There will not be Ardent, Kidventure, or the 9am or 5pm service. We look forward to celebrating with you!

We need two teachers during 1st service to lead the 2nd/3rd grade classroom. It would be an every other week commitment. Teachers needed to arrive 30 minutes before the service starts, in order to welcome the kids. If you are interested in helping fill this need, contact Bernadette.
