deacons   contacts

The main purpose of the Deacon Ministry is to help those in and outside the body of Grace Chapel with short-term needs.  By enlisting the help of Grace Chapel members, we can be the “hands and feet of Christ” by sharing our gifts and talents with others.

The main areas of ministry include helping the ill, elderly, widowed and single parent families within the body of Grace Chapel.  We also support the local community.  Activities include helping with meals, shopping/errands, moving, house/yard projects and short-term financial assistance.  We conduct a food drive to support Wilsonville Community Sharing, a local agency that serves those in need of food and assistance.

If you would like to help you can also fill out our Deacon Help form and our deacons will find opportunities for you to serve in the body and community.

Dave Crosswhite and his family have attended Grace for 3 1/2 years. He enjoys golf, baseball, outdoor activities and spending time doing family activities. His main focus with the deacon ministry is families, single
parents, and Doernbecher Children's Hospital outreach.

"Being a deacon is simply allowing God to work through me to touch the lives of people for His Kingdom"

- Dave

Bob Christler and his family have attended Grace Chapel since 2002.  He has been active in a variety of ministries over the years and enjoys serving those inside and outside the Body of Christ.  He enjoys running, golfing and helping with his two children’s sporting activities.

“The Deacon Ministry allows all of us an opportunity to reach out to those in need.  Whether we are sharing our time, talent or treasure, our goal is to glorify God by bringing the love of Christ to those in need.”

     - Bob

Wendy Pruitt and her husband Mark have attended Grace Chapel for five years and now make their home in Newberg, where Wendy works for the Providence Health System. After eleven years of serving as Jr. and Sr. High Youth Counselors, and four years of working with the College age group, they have now “grown” into adult ministries.  They have two grown daughters, and Wendy has always had a heart for caring for others.

"My heart for the Deacon Ministry is to share the love of Christ by tending to the physical needs of people at Grace Chapel, and in our surrounding communities, caring especially for the ill and the elderly. "

- Wendy
