The rummage sale was born out of Grace Chapel’s commitment to our community and our desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus in caring for the needy among us. The idea of a rummage sale was proposed. The thought was that we could ask our body to donate their gently used stuff, sell it for a cheap price, and donate 100% of the proceeds to hunger and poverty in Wilsonville. We had no idea what the scope of this event would become.
After 5 years of doing this event we have raised over $60,000 which has been funneled back into our community. Our sale is anticipated each year by many who wish to participate by donating items, volunteering, and/or shopping. Our reputation of doing this sale for hunger and poverty has resulted in many individuals and organizations contacting us for assistance of varying degrees. Examples include Wilsonville Community Sharing, Random Kindness, All Wilsonville Public Schools, Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, Head Start, Royal Family Kids Camp, Lion’s Pride, Wilsonville Library, several homeless ministries, missions teams, as well as many Wilsonville families. It has been a joy to hear these stories and provide help in this way.
100% of the profits from the Wilsonville Rummage Sale go to addressing the issues of HUNGER AND POVERTY in our community.
